This is a REAL 95.2 pound fish caught in our waters. Is Gulf Shores a fisherman's paradise or WHAT !
Jeremy Shook, Lee Windham and Cody Shows hold onto a 95.2-pound cubera snapper. Windham caught the giant while the 3 of them were fishing Thursday, June 11, 2009, about 25 miles southeast of Orange Beach."We didn't know what it was," he said. "None of us had ever seen a fish that big. We thought it might be a goliath grouper because of the gold color, but I knew goliaths don't have scales like this fish had." Finally, Windham said they consulted the Florida fishing regulations booklet with its pictures of saltwater fish before positively identifying it as a cubera snapper. They never knew such a fish existed. Read article.
This beautiful Speckled Trout was caught by Dave Perry the day after Memorial Day, late afternoon in Little Lagoon. Caught from the small pier that you see in the background. He used a smelly old shrimp for bait.

Gulf Shores has some really cool squirrels.
This photo was taken of a wild squirrel in a tree in the parking lot of the Civic Center. According to our own Dr. Skip, this is an Eastern Fox Squirrel. Don't we have cool animals here?

Many people do not know that Alabama
even has beaches, but Alabama has the most beautiful white sugar sand beaches around. The
weather is glorious, the area is full of golf courses, and the Alabama Gulf Coast has been
a steady award winner in family beach vacation categories. Gulf Shores is the original and
most well known part of the beach, Orange Beach has been more recently developed and
Perdido Key is right next to Orange Beach. We do not have nearly the traffic
problems that the Destin area seems to have now-a-days. The prices are very reasonable
down in Dixie, the weather is exceptional, and the people are
the friendliest ever !
