2005 National Shrimp Festival
The 2005 National Shrimp Festival was a huge success. Below are pictures taken at the Shrimp Festival, including pictures from the sand castle competition.
These pictures are of some of the crafts booths that were at this year's Shrimp Festival.
There is always a ton of food at the Shrimp Festival. This is just a sample of the variety of seafood and fun festival treats you'll find. Since the Shrimp Festival the year before was canceled due to Ivan, everyone turned out in huge numbers for the 2005 Shrimp Fest. The weather was fabulous and everything was perfect. We had some new exhibiters of arts and crafts. The painted leather jackets shown above had matching boots and chic shoes. The food is always great with a heavy emphasis on Louisiana style gombos and seafood. Of course there is no shortage of fried shrimp and fish. If it is onething that folks do well in Gulf Shores, that is fried shrimp. They way our beach-side boardwalk is built, you can sit right on the edge anywhere along and catch a cool breeze and watch the Gulf while you enjoy your Festival eats.

Many people do not know that Alabama
even has beaches, but Alabama has the most beautiful white sugar sand beaches around. The
weather is glorious, the area is full of golf courses, and the Alabama Gulf Coast has been
a steady award winner in family beach vacation categories. Gulf Shores is the original and
most well known part of the beach, Orange Beach has been more recently developed and
Perdido Key is right next to Orange Beach. We do not have nearly the traffic
problems that the Destin area seems to have now-a-days. The prices are very reasonable
down in Dixie, the weather is exceptional, and the people are
the friendliest ever !
