Jimmy Buffet hadden dun nuttin' for this area before. Now maybe he wants to keep diners in his sister's restaurant (Lulu's) and sell nights in his hotel .... it sure looks to us. He could do a concert but if the weather is not good for TV, well then,,,,

Jimmy Buffett fans have a little longer to wait to hear their hero on the beach. City officials confirmed Monday that "CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett and Friends: Live From the Gulf Coast" would be postponed until July 11.

A representative with the City of Gulf Shores confirmed the rescheduled date. Further information is not yet available.

News of the postponment started to spread early Monday afternoon when a note was also posted to the Facebook page of the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce Monday afternoon. The statement was later pulled, and chamber representatives have yet to make an official statement.

Bob Wilson with the Local 60 Stagehands Union in Pensacola said he had local stagehands set to work the concert, but received a call Monday afternoon telling him their services would not be needed.

"I was told that the concert for July 1 was canceled because of a concern over storm surge, and the 30 people we were looking to place would not be needed," Wilson said.

Kaiser Realty, a prominent vacation realty company in Gulf Shores, posted a notice to its www.seegulfshores.com website Monday afternoon that the concert was being postponed.

"Because the Jimmy Buffett & Friends Concert is being held directly on the beach, the current full moon creating high tides (3-4 foot seas today and 5-6 foot seas Wednesday and possibly Thursday as well), along with the storm in the Gulf creating higher seas, the concert has been postponed," the statement on the website read.

Calls to publicists for the concert and to CMT, the cable network sponsoring and broadcasting the event, were not immediately returned.
